This site provides a brief overview of my work at the University of Notre Dame.
I have a multiplicity of roles and responsibilities at the University of Notre Dame: I am the Assistant Provost for Internationalization and Director the Center for the Study of Languages & Cultures (CSLC) — providing strategic planning and leadership for Notre Dame’s international studies programs and internationalization initiatives as well as support and programming for foreign/second language and service programs on and off campus. I am a professor who teaches coursework on applied linguistics and pursues research on second language acquisition; I administer Notre Dame’s summer study abroad programs that send students to study language and participate in service learning projects at dozens of sites around the world each summer; I direct an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program and faculty that provides English language support and community engagement opportunities to Notre Dame’s international student population; I am a fellow and active member of both the Kellogg Institute for International Studies and the Nanovic Institute for European Studies; and I also serve as the Secretary and an Executive Board Member to the International Association of Language Learning Technology (IALLT).
