This site provides a brief overview of my work at the University of Notre Dame.
I have a multiplicity of roles and responsibilities at the University of Notre Dame: I am a professor who teaches coursework on applied linguistics and pursues research on second language acquisition; I direct the Center for the Study of Languages & Cultures (CSLC), which provides programming, assessment and strategic planning for Notre Dame’s foreign language programs; I direct a summer study abroad program that sends more than fifty students to study language intensively at more than twenty sites around the world each summer; I direct an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program that provides English language support to Notre Dame’s international student population; I am a fellow and active member of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies; and I also serve as the Secretary and an Executive Board Member to the International Association of Language Learning Technology (IALLT) as well as Co-Editor of IALLT’s scholarly journal.
